Back in the day (1930's) mill workers and such were often given an extra dollar before the holidays, like a bonus at the end of a grueling year. These came in the form of a silver dollar, and were nicknamed 'Cartwheels,' a moniker that stuck around long after the practice ended.
I like to think of this blog as my own little bonus, a catalog of all the silver dollar linings around my days.
